Scope and Contents
Materials recording the establishment and organization of the National Federation of the Blind from its inception until the mid-20th century. Includes correspondence, memoranda, publications, inaugural and organizational documents, printed matter, photographs, speeches, and staff and administrative records, as well as information on committees, divisions, state affiliates, and major areas of interest to the NFB. Some series encompass materials collected throughout the active use period of the subcollection, while others end with tenBroek’s death. Some of these series were continued by Hazel tenBroek during her ongoing activities as an employee and active member of the NFB (see Subcollection 7: Hazel tenBroek Personal).
